A little something different – coziness on the go

Even though we here at Gallivant Hotel are fans of hotels, motels and other similar vacation spots, every now and then something unusual for us catches our eyes. This summer, Jacob, one of our senior team members has caught what we call the RV fever. What the RV fever is, you are probably wondering. Well keep reading and find out, but it’s pretty self explanatory.

A little something different – coziness on the go

There’s this trend that Jacob has discovered that people transform various campers, vans, trucks, buses, you name it, into cozy living spaces on the go. They aren’t exactly hotel rooms, there are obvious compromises that you need to make, but there are also a lot of advantages to turning a van into a living space.

One of the first videos that I’ve personally seen of turning a regular van into a camper van, a living space on wheels is this video above. The whole reason behind the conversion above was so that Mike, the guy who did the conversion and who likes to ride mountain bikes, can be on the go and have a place to crash when traveling from one cool place to ride bikes to another. He realized he was always on the road, so there was no sense for him to pay rent on an apartment that he rarely uses. I can understand that a lot.

Another great conversion that Jacob has been captivated by is this ultimate adventure vehicle made by a young couple from the California originally, I think, and now they are nomads, but nomads with a style. Instead of using a regular sprinter van, they decided to use a military truck, which apparently the US military sells real cheap. Obviously they have much more space on their truck, and they’ve used it really well. You can check their cutom DIY camper van on the video above.

This is exactly what we meant with the title, coziness on the go. Hotel rooms will cost you money, depending on what your tastes are, and you are very limited in where you can stay, it has to be a hotel or a motel. Of course, hotels have much more advantages, more room, definitely more amenities. Both sides of the coin have their advantages and disadvantages. Each of us have our own preferences, so that’s why we can’t really say one is better than the other. We here at Gallivant Hotel like hotels, if you like campers, DIY custom camper vans and trucks to be more precise, then more power to you. To each his own and all that. We are just amazed what people are capable of pulling off. Bravo. See you in the next one. Bye.
